I use the the 150$ one from HD and it works just fine

Thats the gun "The PuzzleMan" uses. It has a bigger spray fan and you can change the spray shape with out twisting. I still use the discontinued ol' trusty.

+1 That is what i use. Learn it, Master it.

This is strictly personal opinion here but I wouldnt use that kind because it has a lack of being able to pull in "fresh" air.
Seems to me you will be sucking in dried plastidip particles and spraying them in to your we paint causes a texture to happen more often and eventually killing your gun.

Also for your knowledge, The Puzzle Man's one cracked due to using dip as a spray agent, its the hot solvents that weakened it over time (according to him I think he said about 6 months) I'll link the one I got at HD and you can go from there, I choose this one because I plan to do alot of spraying and cost counts, get what you pay for kind of thing (also I'm in San Diego, so I feel your pain)

Is there anything wrong with the ones that come in the kit? Mine works pretty well

No if i had to guess I would say that they work ok... since they mainly come with the Car kits - and we can't get the car kits here in California, its just cheaper in the mean-time to just get our own.

We use this one and it works great. As with all guns though and maybe more so this one, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! Any debris will cause this thing to act up and really get on your nerves. Had issues with the foam ring swelling up and pressure building up in the hopper.
