Was your dip job smooth or did it have texture? I noticed that if dip is not applied properly(texture) it will be much harder to remove.

Why don't you use vinyl pre cut film to smoke the lights? Just stick it on.

Go four to five(keep 1 gallon for touchups etc) The more dip you apply the easier it with peel and the more protection it will have.
