Black + Pearlizer = Metallic Grey

This was a dip we've wanted to do for a while and we're very excited to show you the results.
We used 2 gallons of Black (as a base) + 2 gallons of Black and Pearl mixed 50:50.

stupid question, a 3 gallons black to 1 gallon pearl mix, will give you a darker look? its being sprayed over a dark gunmetal base

Yes it will be darker, but will lose some of the pearl/metallic effect. If you want to go darker, add a black tint, not more black dip.

Will tints effect the metallic at all?

I am not a big fan of charcoal/silver or anything to the effect of shiny primer but this is awesome. I really like this mix and would actually do this color on my own car. Amazing color, so loving this color!

So to clarify, you sprayed the car with 2 gallons of Black Sprayable dip. Then took one gallon of Black Sprayable Dip and one gallon of Pearlizer, mixed them together (making two gallons) and sprayed over the first layer of black? A total of 3 gallons of Black Sprayable Dip + 1 gallon of Pearlizer.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm a New Dipper... hi guys!

I've done it, it creates a slightly different look IMHO. I have pics of red tinted pearlizer and blue tinted pearlizer (I think I put to much in my blue test) HERE. I don't wanna jack this thread so discuss in the linked thread. FYI I have dropped black into pearlizer too, very cool, just forgot to snap pics.

To answer your question: I think you can over tint the pearlizer and mute the pearl effect. There was a big difference between my Red test and Blue test and when I tested Black I put just one drop in 6 oz and it did very little to the pearling.

Honestly not loving it. It's pretty cool but I don't see myself doing my car in it. I'm not one for messing with black though.

The close up of the trunk kinda made me think that it looks very metallic. Almost steel-ish like a Delorean, not quite as light but kinda

It's very metallic in person. Pics capture almost none of the metallic effect
