    Military M101A3 Trailer??

SOOOOOOOOO I do not have the trailer yet, but I did buy it. And now have to wait on the Govt for the paper work and crap. I wanted to repaint it, but maybe, just maybe, dip it? That way it keeps it original, and I can just peel the dip off if I ever want to change it. But I do not have a sprayer, nor the money for a kit.

Hell the whole trailer only cost 231.00. Final total was 273 after tax, and the auction premium.

It is a 3/4 TON trailer, with HMMWV (Humvee) tires. It sits as high as the hummers and it made to tow behind them, and can use the same tires as the hummers as a spare. It should also have run flat tubes.

To give you an IDEA of the size of these trailers, here is one that is behind a FORD EXPLORER.
    (NOT MY PICS)

So as you can see, this is not a small ass trailer. But for 231.00 It is a steal. They can be found on govliquidation.com and you can buy a lot of military surplus there, from ammo cans, ice coolers, pressure washers, to full 5-ton cargo trucks, tractors, and forklifts.

Anyway, mine will be pulled behind my truck, a 2005 Ford Expedition.

Here is the ACTUAL trailer I won:

I was wanting to paint it a flat/matte black, and then stencile on all the writing that is on the trailer in gun metal gray or maybe OD green. That way it will have a modern look to it, but keep its military herritage in a way.

What does everyone think? I also want to line the bed with a spray on bed liner

Wow! Always wanted one of those trailers to pull behind my old monster Land Cruiser! I never realized that you could pick them up so cheap! Heck, one tire is worth what you paid for the whole thing, haha! Where do you have to go to pick those up? Looks like the desert. I may have to look into those auctions......Cant wait to see how it tuens out if you PD it! BTW-I'm not sure, but I it dosent look like those things have a clear coat over the paint.....you may want to try the PD in a small area first to mak sure it will peel alright with no clear. No saying it won't, but most people are doing it on new cars with glossy clear and I would assume that would make it easier to peel off.....

check out govliquidation.com You can search by what you want, and what state. I am in California, so I just searched what was in CA, and I know the state, and what cities are near me so I noticed they have stuff in Barstow, as well as in Oceanside. My trailer is at Barstow Marine Corps Logistics Base.

The site is of surplus stuff from all over the country, pretty much where ever a base is (Army, Navy, MC, Air Force), it may have something listed. They have some in FL, ID, LA, GA, MD, CA, NV everywhere.

They even have auctions where you can bid on 300 Dell Computers, starting at 150.00

Just an example of the stuff you can buy at CHEAP prices, here is a lot of 800, yes 800, LCD Computer screens. 20,000 POUNDS worth. 20 PALLETS!!!, and its only 210.00 right now.

Here are some pics from when I picked it up.

I wish they auctioned the HMMWVs but they are sent to scrap.

I am just going to get a paint sprayer and use Sand Tan camo pant and paint it all tan.

The brake lights I switched to LED military lights, which is why they are tan and trailer is camo.

I would love to dip it but there is too much detail and sharp edges on it.

Unless someone wants to dontate a whole car kit, hint hint lol.

The trailer pulls freaking great, I could nit even tell it was behind me, no drag, and even beat a few trucks off the line.

By the way, you can see my rims and badging are still dipped

Its called a pintle hitch. Pretty common actually. I bought a riser that allower its to sit higher, just like a drop or riser would work for a regular ball. And then the hitch I bought is a pintle/ball combo with a 2 inch ball so I can tower regular trailers too.
