1 Where to look

Driver door jamb (under hood on older models)

2 What you’ll see
BMW AG — LACK / PAINT FARBE / COLOUR 475 SCHWARZ 2 FUELLER HELLROT the colour name is in German — a second name with no code is the filler

3-digit code (e.g. 300, 475)

If it’s not there, check
  • Under the Hood — Look for a sticker or metal plate on the radiator support, firewall, or inner fender. Common for Ford, GM, and some European vehicles.
  • Trunk / Spare Tire Area — Some vehicles (especially European) have the paint code on a sticker inside the trunk lid or in the spare tire well.
  • Glove Box — Check inside the glove box door for a build sticker. Common on some Asian and European manufacturers.
