DipPearl TopCoat FAQ

Do I Need a Base Coat?

Yes. All DipPearl Topcoats are TOPCOATS only, and must be applied over a proper Plasti Dip Spray base. Black is usually the default base for most, but feel free to experiment spraying pearls over different base colors for different effects. There are some exceptions: Polaris, Balloon White, Himilayan White for example should be sprayed over a White base.
What Sprayer Should I Use?

DipPearl TopCoat quarts and gallons are designed to be sprayed through turbine systems such as the DYC G-Force DipSprayer or the Ultimate DipSprayer, they are traditionally too thick to be sprayed through an HVLP. HVLP may produce dry spray and can ruin the finish unless a 2.0-2.5 tip is used.
Temperature Guidelines

Ideal temps for application range from 40F - 95F. The colder the temps, the longer the dry times between coats. Lower humidity is better as extreme humidity may result in blushing.
What Sheen Level will I get?

All DipPearl Topcoats are created using our most popular DIY Topcoat formula - Satin Next Gen Topcoat. This will provide a beautiful, smooth Satin finish. You may topcoat these colors with Glossifier Aerosols (for small surfaces) or Glossy DipPearl Topcoat if a higher shine is desired.
Can I Apply Ultra High Gloss over these colors?

Ultra High Gloss is not compatible with these DipPearl Topcoat products. If you wish to spray your entire vehicle with a DipPearl and Ultra High Gloss, simply click the "Make it a Car Kit" button above and select Ultra High Gloss as you build your Car Kit. This will automatically come with the appropriate base coat product for UHG.

Pearl TopCoats

Pearl Topcoats are peelable topcoats infused with DYC’s famous DipPearls, delivering a wide range of stunning colors, metallic effects, and color-shifting finishes. Apply them over a solid PDS basecoat — black is the classic choice for maximum contrast, but any base color can be used to influence the final hue and character of the pearl.

The more coats you apply, the stronger and more intense the pearl effect becomes. Most projects use 2–4 coats for a rich, even finish. These topcoats spray easily and lay down with a clean, sharp satin sheen and excellent clarity.

Available in Gallons, Quarts, and Aerosols, Pearl Topcoats give you the perfect size and format for wheels, trim, accents, or full peelable projects — making custom color simple, flexible, and visually incredible.
