The Gloss Revolution is Here – and It's Still Peelable

After 15 years leading the industry in peelable automotive coatings, DipYourCar has finally shattered the one barrier that stood in the way of perfection: a DIY High Gloss Topcoat.

Introducing Ultra High Gloss — a first-of-its-kind innovation that delivers the deep, wet-look shine of a professionally painted car… while remaining 100% peelable.

For years, DIYers have embraced the bold colors, unique finishes, and versatility of dip. But the one thing they’ve been waiting for — real gloss — has always been out of reach. Until now.

Why This Changes Everything:

  • Glass-Like Finish – Delivers unmatched depth, clarity, and mirror-like shine just like factory clear coat
  • Still Peelable – Maintains the core promise of removable dip without compromising durability
  • DIY-Friendly – Designed to spray smooth and level with minimal effort even out of Turbine spray systems
  • Touchably Smooth – Feels as good as it looks, with a slick, refined surface that rivals traditional auto paint
  • UV-Resistant – Protects the color beneath and helps preserve that stunning finish over time
  • Insane Clarity – See our colors, pearls, and shifts like never before

Whether you’re going for a show-car finish or just want your project to look next level, this is the product the dip community has been demanding for over a decade.

You’ve asked. You’ve waited. It’s here.

Gloss like this has never been possible in the DIY world — until now.

Ultra High Gloss FAQ

What sprayers are compatible with Ultra High Gloss?

It’s turbine-friendly, and works with:

  • G-Force Turbine (Stage 1)
  • Ultimate System (Stage 3)
  • HVLP with compressor (best atomization)
Should I use the same spray gun for both base coats and Ultra High Gloss?

Ideally, no. We recommend using one gun for Plasti Dip base coats and a separate one for Ultra High Gloss to avoid cross-contamination and ensure best results.

However, if you only have 1 gun, make sure you flush the gun thoroughly with naphtha after spraying your base coats. Ensure the gun is completely dry before spraying gloss.

How should I clean the gun after spraying the Ultra High Gloss?

After applying the Ultra High Gloss, you want to flush the gun with high-percentage isopropyl alcohol or urethane gun cleaner.

Don’t let solvents sit in the gun, especially if using a plastic G-Force gun.

How do I set up the gun for Ultra High Gloss?

G-Force Gun: Dial it back to a 4–6 inch spray fan; it’s a low-viscosity product.

HVLP Gun: Use a 1.3 or 1.4 tip. PSI is personal preference:

  • Some prefer 20–25 PSI
  • Others, like Fonzie, prefer 35–40 PSI

How many coats should I apply?

Just two thin wet coats. No heavy build-up. Practice your spray on a test surface first.

What’s the recommended overlap and speed?

Use 50%–75% overlap, but move swiftly.

How long should I wait between coats?

Touch it with a gloved finger after 5–10 minutes. When it sticks and creates stringy residue, it’s ready for coat two.

How long does the Gloss Take to dry?

Like most 2K clear coats, it's going to depend on your ambient temperatures and maybe even your humidity. You may find that the Ultra High Gloss is dry to the touch or dust free in an hour or two, but you want to let it dry overnight before you do anythng, like breakdown the car or reassemble any parts.

What safety gear should I use?

This is a 2K clear coat, so use:

  • Full-face respirator (recommended)
  • Paint suit (optional but preferred)
Can I spray in humid weather?

No. Avoid high humidity or rainy days. Not ideal for any 2K clear coat.

What products are compatible with Ultra High Gloss?

Only these gallon-based products:

  • Plasti Dip Spray Gallons (e.g., Black, Flex Blue)
  • Performance Series Gallons (e.g., Wicked Wine, Frozen Blue)
  • New Pearl Coat Gallons
Can I use it over NextGen, ProLine, Dip Armor or aerosols?

No. Do not use it over:

  • Next Gen/Glossy Dip Pearl Top Coat Gallons
  • Dip Armor TopCoat
  • ProLine or AutoFlex
  • Plasti Dip or HyperDip aerosols
Can Ultra High Gloss be sanded and polished?

Yes. Once fully cured, it can be paint corrected like any traditional 2K clear.

Can I use Ceramic Coat or Wax?

Yes. Just like any normal paint you can apply wax and ceramic coat. We recommend letting it cure for 30 days prior to applying.

Is Ultra High Gloss included in car kits?

Yes. It’s available as a standalone or add-on to kits like Wicked Wine.

How much do I need for my vehicle?

Use the DYC size guide:

  • Small, Medium, Large Cars: 1 Ultra High Gloss Kit
  • Extra Large Cars: 2 Kits
Can I spray over a previously dipped car?

Only if it has compatible products (Plasti Dip Spray or Performance Series) and is in good condition. If not, peel it and start fresh.

If the car is in good condition, you'll want to:

  • Remask the car
  • Wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol & make sure it is perfectly clean
  • Apply the gloss
How should I mask peel-when-wet areas for gloss?

Double-tape them using fine line tape. Peel only the top line during base coats; leave the bottom to protect the area during gloss application.

What if I mess up the finish?

Don’t worry. Ultra High Gloss can be sanded and polished to correct minor issues.

Cleaning and Aftercare

You want to let it fully dry before you do anything as far as cleaning & aftercare. We recommend a full week before you give it is first wash.

We recommend 30 days to fully cure before applying any sealers, ceramic coats or even wax.
