FULL RESPRAY: AEROSOL AND SPRAY GUN SIZES

1. Prep and clean. Wash the panel, degrease with a 50/50 isopropyl mix and scuff the whole area with a grey scuff pad. Paint only sticks to clean, dulled surfaces.

2. Prime bare surfaces. Painting bare metal or raw plastic? Apply epoxy primer first, with adhesion promoter on plastics. Repairs with filler or deep scratches need a primer filler. You will find both in Project Essentials and the Kit Builder.

3. Undercoat. Spray the required undercoat in 1 to 2 even coats and let it flash for 15 to 20 minutes. It is included with your paint automatically.

4. Colour basecoat. Apply 2 to 3 medium coats, 15 to 20 minutes between coats. Keep the gun 15 to 20 cm from the panel and overlap each pass by half. On pearls and metallics the final, lighter coat sets the effect.

5. 2K Clearcoat. Finish with 2 wet coats of 2K clear for gloss and protection.

6. Cure and aftercare. Dust-free in about an hour, full hardness in 5 to 7 days. Hand-wash only for the first 30 days.

CHIPS AND SCRATCHES: THE 2OZ 1K TOUCH UP

The 2oz bottle is a 1K gloss formula: it air-dries glossy straight from the bottle, so there is no clearcoat step at all.

1. Clean the chip. Wash the spot and degrease with isopropyl. Pick out any loose or flaking paint first.

2. Fill in thin layers. Dab paint into the chip with the built-in brush. Build it up in several thin layers, letting each one dry, until the paint sits just proud of the surface.

3. Let it harden. Leave the repair to harden fully, ideally overnight, before levelling.

4. Level with 3000 grit. Wet-sand the spot with 3000 grit sandpaper until the repair sits flush with the surrounding paint.

5. Hand polish. Polish the area by hand to bring back the full gloss. Skip blending solutions: levelling and polishing gives a cleaner, longer-lasting finish.
